Cruising

Each time I walk across the entrance of a cruise ship the excitement is as intense as my first cruise. I really enjoy the experience that I immediately find on-board.

I tend to really relax when cruising. I sleep later than usual and eat a great deal more than I do on land. I tend to enjoy wine with each dinner. After dinner I head to the nightly Las Vegas style show or head to one of the lounges to enjoy the music.

When I feel I'm in withdrawal from lack of Internet access I head to the cyber café and catch up on email.

But mostly I find a seat on deck. I pretend to read but tend to stare out at the wide ocean and wonder how the explorers would travel for months on-board a ship that was rocking wildly on the waves while I sit calmly wondering if we have ever left the calm of port.

Most ships have numerous sports activities including a climbing wall, golf, bowling and even ice skating. Many ship also offer various educational options. Of course there is usually an excellent spa to get a massage or other relaxing treatment.

You can choose to to everything or nothing at all.

I really enjoy the relaxation of a cruise. But truly enjoy my annual trip on The Rock Boat (see www.therockboat.com)

Do you like to cruise?

A great time at Walt Disney World with children!

My wife and I spent a day (and evening) at Walt Disney World, without children.

The day started at EPCOT with a latte as we watched the people stream by and the fountain erupt with music and synchronized blasts of water.

We then spent over an hour exploring new technology in the "Innovations" area. We even enjoyed a complimentary ride on a Segway people mover.

"Soaring" was the next stop. We sat in the middle section (Area "B") in row #1 and had a great experience. The crowds were so light we returned for a second ride and chose Area "C" in row #3. Although the show hadn't changed from the first ride the perspective was a bit different as you could see the edge of the screen and see feet dangling in your field of vision.

The remainder of the day was spent touring the World Showcase with an occasional stop to taste a native beer or wine from several countries.

We "Hopped" over to the Magic Kingdom for dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern. A great spot with very good home-style dinner (turkey, ham, beef, mashing potatoes, desert, etc.). After dinner we quickly ran back to the room to change into costume for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

We returned to the Magic Kingdom as Hippies and played the part by wishing everyone we saw "Peace, love and happiness". We had a great time visiting the attractions, watching the special Halloween version of the nightly parade and the spooky version of the fireworks. It was very enjoyable in costume. We were glad to see many other adults and children get into the spirit in costume.

You can enjoy Walt Disney World without the children.
